Record Missions on Mid North Coast (28 May 2009)

The community’s own Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has undertaken more than 14 missions in the past 10 days for the people of the Mid North Coast.

As well as assisting the communities of the Mid North Coast during the devastating storms and floods, crews, pilots and on board paramedics have been kept busy with at least one mission each day to assist people suffering injuries and medical conditions.

On 25 May the Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Coffs Harbour to assist with flood relief by transferring two paramedics from Grafton to Crescent Head then transported an 80 year old lady with a medical condition as well as a doctor who needed to report for duty in Kempsey.

The Rescue Helicopter also flew to a flooded-in property at Moparrabah, west of Kempsey, to airlift a father and his seven month son who required medical treatment.

The wild weather also caused a number of road accidents with the Service assisting people at Old Bar and Koorainghat.
