Chair of Regional Advisory Committee Nominations
Chair, Regional Advisory Committee - New England North West region
Experienced business and community leaders
Governance and regional advisory
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (the Service) provides 24 hour aeromedical and rescue services throughout Northern NSW from three bases in Tamworth, Belmont and Lismore. A fourth base is located in Newcastle for the purpose of engineering and maintenance support.
The Service is inviting nominations from experienced business and community leaders to chair its Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) which represents the New England and North West region of New South Wales. The vacancy is available due to the impending retirement of the committee’s long standing Chair.
The RAC comprises nine committee members including its Chair. Its purpose is to advise and assist the Board and Senior Management Team of the Service on matters relevant to the local region. The committee helps to ensure the Service’s strategic direction and partnerships continue to serve the community’s best interests.
Since the year 2000, the RAC has played a vital role in the development of the Tamworth-based operations of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. It ensures strong local governance and advice on matters such as community partnerships and fundraising. The RAC is expected to play a key role in the future of the Service.
The Chair will be selected in a merit based process that considers skills, experience and qualifications.
The Service may appoint one director to its Board nominated by the RAC. The current chair of the RAC is also currently a director of the Board and is also retiring from this position.
More about WRHS
The Service is here for all members of our community. Throughout the New England and North West region the Rescue Helicopter commonly responds to Triple 0 emergency calls to assist people injured on the roads, farms, workplaces, on sporting fields or in recreational settings. The Service is also tasked on search & rescue missions and inter-hospital transfers to ensure residents of the region can access necessary care in the most appropriate hospital. Most commonly these inter-hospital transfers are flown to Tamworth, Newcastle or Sydney.
The Service is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and is reliant on community fundraising and support to ensure the financial viability of operations.
