The NSW Health Department is responsible for ensuring that the people of NSW are provided with the best possible health care. The Helicopter Service operates under a contract with NSW Health that covers the transport of pre-hospital and inter-hospital patient transfers.

This contract is administers by the Ambulance Service of NSW and provides almost 30% of income for the Hunter Mid North Coast region and 45% for the New England and North West region.
