Tag a calf

Local farmers are helping to support the Service as part of the 'Tag a calf' initiative.

Farmers can tag certain calves with special Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service ear tags, supplied by Elders Rural. Once the tagged cattle are sold, the proceeds are donated to the Service.

Your support helps to ensure that no one ever has to pay to be assisted by the Service.

The Service was established in the New England North West region in 2000 and since then has performed more than 1,350 missions. Many of these missions have involved accidents on farms and properties and transferring patients from smaller rural hospitals to tertiary care in Tamworth, Newcastle or Sydney.

For some time the farming community has asked how it could support the Service.

Volunteers in the Service's Bingara Support Group have tagged their first calf - a Charolais called 'Westpac'. The calf was generously donated by Roberty and Judy Northcott (H. Roy Miller Stock & Station Agent).

For further information or to get involved in the 'Tag a calf' program contact the Service on 1800 155 155.
